Korach – Good Intentions

Musar Avicha Shul Posted on June 27, 2019 by BaruchJuly 2, 2019

In our world, actions define a person. Nice ideas and sweet words are not taken seriously unless they have some kind of manifestation in reality. In Judaism, our actions have eternal meaning. As opposed to other religions, our actions cannot be negated by a simple apology or “turning the other cheek”.

Beha’alotcha – The Beauty in Daily life

Musar Avicha Shul Posted on June 13, 2019 by BaruchJune 13, 2019

Human beings are always searching for new and exciting things. In all areas of life, many people feel the need for a change as they become disappointed and burdened by the same routine. This tendency becomes intense for a religious Jew, as the Jewish religion is replete with routine – the same prayers, the same holidays and the same laws all year long. Even though the Jewish calendar has many different holidays and occasions, they never change.

Drishat Tzion – in Honor of Yom Yerushalayim – Part 2

Musar Avicha Shul Posted on June 6, 2019 by BaruchJune 6, 2019

In Chapter 137 in Psalms – By the rivers of Babylon” we determined our slogan: “אם אשכחך ירושלים תשכח ימיני תדבק לשוני לחכי אם לא אזכרכי, אם לא אעלה את ירושלים על ראש שמחתי” – “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget [its skill]. May my tongue cling to my palate, if I do not remember you, if I do not bring up Jerusalem at the beginning of my joy.

Drishat Tzion – in Honor of Yom Yerushalayim

Musar Avicha Shul Posted on May 30, 2019 by BaruchMay 30, 2019

This is the day that Hashem made; we shall exult and rejoice thereon”

We have not yet forgotten, the contemporaries of that generation, the liberation of the Old City of Jerusalem and its surrounding neighborhoods, which were held by the Jordanians for nineteen years, in battles fought by Israel’s heroes and the Angels of the King’s army, on the 28th of Iyar, 5727.

Bechukotai – A Part Of Something Bigger

Musar Avicha Shul Posted on May 23, 2019 by BaruchMay 23, 2019

One of the most interesting philosophical questions concerning Judaism has to do with reward. The Torah never mentions any type of reward that an individual would enjoy in the next world. Rav Yitzchak Abarbanel, as well as many other Jewish philosophers, dealt with this theological difficulty. One of Abarbanel’s answers is that the Torah does in fact mention reward for good deeds, however only with respect to collective rewards.

Behar – Judaism: Connected To Reality

Musar Avicha Shul Posted on May 16, 2019 by BaruchMay 16, 2019

A wise man once said, “A religious man is a gullible man”. The modern perspective looks at the piousness of religion as seemingly disconnected from reality. All religions expect a high moral code and view culture in the most positive light possible. This concept seems to contradict what actually happens in the real world. Complete righteousness cannot function in a world where competition and dishonesty prevail.

Kedoshim – When You Walk Forward, Always Look Back

Musar Avicha Shul Posted on May 1, 2019 by BaruchMay 1, 2019

The chain of Jewish history is one of the foundations which has kept Judaism strong for centuries. In order to truly internalize our sacred tradition, we must understand on a very deep level our perspective of the past. How should a Jew in the 21st century analyze and examine the generations before him? How does the aspect of time affect our service of Hashem? Inside this week’s Parsha, we can find a hidden answer.

Musar Avicha Shul Posted on April 16, 2019 by BaruchApril 16, 2019

Holidays and memorable moments have become an essential part of modern culture. All over the world, people celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other momentous events. These dates not only commemorate happy occasions. It is quite common to remember dates that remind us of when our loved ones passed away or when a tragic accident occurred. Metzora- Shabbat Hagadol – The Key To Success- Transition

Musar Avicha Shul Posted on April 11, 2019 by BaruchApril 11, 2019

In order to be a good shepherd, it is not sufficient for one to know the layout of the land. A talented shepherd must know how to guide his sheep. In every aspect of life, there are junctions, changes that may shift one’s life completely. These changes happen to people of all ages, no matter what their background. In addition, the breadth of these changes are relative. Some people have trouble adapting to a new job or a new community.
