We should take special care not to quarrel or grow angry before or on Shabbat/ The Malkinson family
Parshat Vayakhel/ Pkudei
In honour of the marriage of Sara Malkinson to Aviran Goshen
לא תבערו אש בכל משבתיכם ביום שבת
The Shla”h wrote that besides the factual meaning of these words, this verse also hints to the danger of anger and disagreements.
On Shabbat a person should be especially careful to keep the peace.
Rabbi Lopian wrote a list of rules for his students to keep during Shabbat. He wanted his students to avoid speaking angrily; even if one did feel anger, he should never voice it on Shabbat.
Erev Shabbat, in the wake of the rush to prepare and light the candles on time, one’s home can become somewhat tense. We must stop and think twice before our tempers get kindled.
Someone once came to a rabbi and complained that his wife never finished the Shabbat preparations in time for candle-lighting. He said that as much as he pushed his wife to be more organized, nothing helped. What should he do? The Rav’s simple and logical answer was “Take a broom and help your wife.”
Shabbat Shalom
